My reading today was through chapter 24 of 2 Chronicles, however it was the beginning of chapter 25 that caught my eye tonight. Amaziah is crowned as king in Jerusalem. As it introduces the various kings it typically tells you right away whether they spent their lives following the Lord or not. Amaziah's one sentence spiritual summary struck me though because I think it all too often reflects my own. "And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart." 2 Chronicles 25:2. Though I love the Lord and am truly grateful for the saving grace He has shown me, rarely do I do what is right in the eyes of the Lord with my whole heart. Even tonight as I sat here reading, my mind was racing with ideas of what to do when I was done reading instead of enjoying the words of the living God. Thank God that He is obviously not done sanctifying me since I am still here. Let us strive to be Christians who don't just do what is right, but who are radically chasing after Jesus with everything we have.
